From the perspective of application scenarios, power lithium batteries are mainly used in electric vehicles, electric bicycles and other electric tools, while energy storage lithium batteries are mainly used in peak regulation and frequency regulation, power auxiliary services, renewable energy grid integration and microgrids.

First of all, the power lithium battery is used as a mobile power source, and the volume (and mass) energy density is as high as possible under the premise of safety, so as to achieve a more durable endurance. At the same time, users also hope that electric vehicles can be charged safely and quickly, so power lithium batteries have higher requirements for energy density and power density, but due to the safety of thinking, the current general use of about 1C can charge and discharge energy batteries.

The vast majority of energy storage installations do not need to be moved, so there is no direct request for energy density for energy storage lithium batteries. As for power density, different energy storage scenarios have different requests. For power peak shaving, off-grid photovoltaic energy storage, or peak-to-valley price difference energy storage scenarios on the user side, energy storage batteries that are generally required to be continuously charged or discharged for more than two hours are generally required, so it is suitable to use capacitance batteries with a charge-discharge ratio of ≤0.5C.

Regarding the energy storage scenario of power frequency modulation or smoothing the fluctuation of renewable energy, energy storage batteries are required to be charged and discharged quickly in seconds to minutes, so it is suitable for ≥ the application of 2C power batteries. In some application scenarios that require both frequency regulation and peak regulation, energy-based batteries will be more suitable, and of course, power and capacity batteries can also be used together in this scenario.
